Island Works, Paarden Eiland

Island Works has had several former lives, dating back to 1932. This marvellous period building was home to the South African Wool and Mohair Buyer’s Association, for fifty years.

On its Edwardian-designed southern corner, it also housed one of Cape Town’s first Barclays Banks, for seventy years (later re-named First National Bank). Almost a century later, this grand lady of Paarden Eiland has been repositioned, revitalised and refurbished and is now home to one of Inospace’s most character-filled parks. Today, Island Works is a collection of five buildings offering office, studio, warehousing, logistics, storage, call-centre, workshop and studio space. Most areas benefit from wooden floors, large windows, roller shutter access and generous heights. Island Works is located in one of South Africa’s most desirable industrial nodes. It occupies a full city block with 26,500m² of exceptional spaces to choose from. The property has the largest suspended wooden floors in the country. It houses two cutting-edge business hubs, an onsite café, five Zoom rooms, and a brand-new innovative logistics hub. Other facilities include five high-spec meeting rooms with plug-and-play technology, kitchens, a mammoth outdoor wooden deck, indoor car park, and multiple networking and social pause areas. Island Works houses our largest onsite park management team. This includes a dedicated park manager, community manager and logistics manager – all of whom assist the park’s community with their business needs. Our new on-site fulfilment facility also offers scalable warehousing for excess stock plus picking and packing services.
